A. Celeste Medrano, MSFS, PhD Candidate, Forensic Analytical Chemistry and Odor Profiling Laboratory, Department of Environmental Toxicology, Texas Tech University

A. Celeste Medrano is a forensic scientist from El Paso, Texas, who earned her M.S. in Forensic Science with a concentration in Forensic Chemistry from Texas Tech University in 2023. Her thesis examined how various storage conditions affect the durability and stability of decomposition training aids used for cadaver dogs. She is now pursuing a Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology while working in the Forensic Analytical Chemistry and Odor Profiling Lab. Her dissertation focuses on volatolomic approaches for forensic applications across two distinctive areas of research, live human scent and explosive odor signatures. Her work seeks to better understand the volatile odor profiles of different samples and to build a bridge between chemistry, animal behavior, and forensic science.
