NETWORKING WITH AGENCIES TO INCREASE CALLOUT FREQUENCY

Learn the key to building professional relationships with agencies to increases the frequency of a callout and improve the probability of interagency success out in the field.

Why Do We Do It?

Why do we spend countless hours driving, thousands of dollars, miss family events and shed our own blood, sweat and tears? We all have our own answer, but at the top of the list is to find the missing, to give answers to families and to help our communities.

To accomplish this, we need to train hard so that our dogs are consistent, reliable, and prepared to respond at a moment’s notice. We must also put the groundwork in BEFORE a search so that agencies trust your organization.

Before you move on, make sure you also read our blog about building relationships with agencies.

Presenting To Agencies

When networking with law enforcement, fire departments and emergency management agencies there 7 key points you want to share:

  1. Who you are and your background to build credibility.
  2. Your organization's services and capabilities, response times, credentials, how to request your assistance.
  3. Why search dogs are beneficial for missing or lost person cases, including their capabilities and limitations.
  4. The different types of search dogs and what situations each are best suited for.
  5. How to identify reliable K9 resources in their area.
  6. Information to obtain from the requesting agency about the case prior to responding.
  7. Pre-callout information your team should provide to the requesting agency prior to arriving on scene (i.e. point of contact)
